Laboratory of Biotransformation is a part of the Institute of Microbiology of the Czech Academy of Sciences.
Research in the Laboratory of biotransformation integrates chemistry and biology to create frontier areas of molecular biocatalysis, rich in new ideas and results. Novel methodologies, search for new enzymes and new enzymatic reactions, advanced engineered biocatalysts, modern methods of structural analysis and separation procedures generate a number of new compounds that are eventually tested for various biological activities. Extensive collaborations – intramural, national and international – broaden the portfolio of methods and improve the visibility of our research. The Laboratory consists of three informal taskforce subgroups coordinated by senior researchers, i.e. “White team” (Glycobiology – Bojarová), “Blue team“ (Nitrile biotransformations – Martínková), and “Yellow team“ (Flavonoids and metabolomics – Valentová).
